Sports Massage is a specific type of massage which is generally rendered before, during, and after athletic events to help prepare the athlete for desired performance, to relax the nerves and prevent injuries. An athlete, before a performance, is under immense stress emotionally and physically and the body is also prone to injuries. Practices before the event lead to constant build-up of tension in the muscles and cause stress on joints, ligaments, tendons, as well as the muscles themselves. Apart from muscle tension, the athlete is also bogged down with fatigue and injuries which may hamper the main performance. Sports massage is the answer to emotional and physical well being for an athlete before, after and during a performance. Sports Massage works deep to eliminate toxins embedded in muscle fibers, remove adhesions, and minimize scar tissue buildup. Muscle lengthening in sports massage helps restore a range of motion and overall flexibility. Sports massage also leads to improved circulation which aids better cell nutrition, greater elasticity of muscle fiber, and reduced recovery time.

Deep Tissue massage: this is a technique that  is a bit deeper than a normal massage but can still be relaxing, some people like a massage to be very gentle other like a more physical approach, in the late case deep tissue is the better choice.

Soft tissue release

Neuromuscular therapy can alleviate deep-seated tension caused by repetitive strain and/or over use muscular injury . It incorporates myo-fascial release and muscular trigger points and pressure points in addition to body movement techniques. Neuro Muscular Therapy can help in treating many conditions: trapped nerves, muscle spasm, tennis and golfer’s elbow, sciatica, back pain, lumbago, carpal tunnel syndrome, neck pain and shoulder tension…and numerous types of strain and stresses. How does it work? Neuromuscular therapy utilizes soft tissue techniques to enhance and restore range of motion, muscle balance, eliminate pain, improve circulation, improve posture, strength, physical and psychological fitness.

Manual Trigger point therapy: Trigger point are highly irritable points in the muscle skeletal system, they might have a refer pain when pressed on and they may mimic other syndromes or pain like sciatica, tooth aches, migrain etc…Once founf the trigger point may be pressed on and helo for 10-12 seconds till the pain lower in intensity or all together. Other therapy like massage may be incorporates to obtain maximum benefit.

Dry Needling: this is not “Acupunture” but we do use similar tool, needles! Dry needling means ” injection without steroids”, in the old times the only way to treat Trigger points was by steroids injections, until it was discovered that the needle itself was actually de activating the trigger point and not the steroids injected. This technique was pioneer and further developed by Doctor Travel whom was the Physician for the American President JF Kennedy. This therapy is a bit invasive but not always painful, in fact many of my clients prefer it to deep tissue massage or Manual trigger point therapy as they think it is less painful.

Sport injury treatment : Sport injuries are treated by protocol and in an individual matter, not all the injuries are the same and even when they are the same individual people respond in individual ways. For this reason injuries may be treated with multidisciplinary techniques depending on the type and severity.

Some injuries may require taping or strapping, some may require just an exercise program and some will need some for of muscular manipulation. For more information contact Stefano on 0868248468.
